Wee Ginger Dug

Featured in the monthly edition of iScot 2015 - 2019
WEE GINGER DUG is a Catalan in Scotland with a Spanish pet passport. He was picked up as a stray in one of the most southerly Catalan towns in Spain. Since living in Scotland, he and his human 'Paul Kavanagh' have passed critical comment on the many issues affecting us. Will immigration authorities be knocking on their door ?...
The monthly spread for Wee Ginger Dug is a sharp extremely humerous political critique with an astute voice in the Scottish Independence movement. This was best presented as a cartoon caricature lampooning the various political personalities on the Scottish and British political scene.
  • The iScot Years 2015/2018

A compilation of observations on the funny, the annoying and the down right P*ss taken by our politicians, media and so called people of influence
  • December 2017

One of the biggest differences between Scotland and Catalonia is that whereas the independence of Scotland means an end to theScottish question as far as the rest of the UK is concerned, Catalan independence certainly doesn’t mean an end to the Catalan question for the rest of Spain
  • November 2017

THE CLOCK is ticking. It doesn’t tick with the mechanical sound of clockwork, or the battery operated power of a quartz watch. It ticks with the arrogance of Tory MPs. It ticks with the contradictions and confusion of a British government that’s as inept as a monkey.
  • September 2017

Resolute opposition to David Torrance’s naked smugness is possibly the one thing that all pro-independence Scottish people could agree on.
  • September 2016

One of the many difficulties is that the UK only has a couple of dozen trade negotiators but it’s going to need hundreds in order to negotiate all the trade deals that the country is going to need once it’s outside the EU.
  • December 2016

The Holyrood elections in May were presented as a blow for Nicola Sturgeon and Unionist commentators crowed that the results made independence a lot less likely.
  • January 2016

Brexit means one half of those attending an important meeting of this vital government department are running around with your underpants on their heads screaming abuse about the French and the Germans, while the other half sit in the corner rocking themselves while weeping.
  • June 2017

I hate Tories because when you say you hate Tories you’re saying that you fundamentally disagree with selfish, bad and damaging choices that others make without caring about the effects that their choices have on the rest of us. I’m Toryphobic and proud.
  • May 2017

We’re at that bit in the movie where the spurned former lover has laid traps and cut off the line of escape and is sharpening his machete while Theresa and her gang of bullies are still taunting the Scottish kid,
  • November 2016

Fascism doesn’t march into your country like a stormtrooper. Fascism starts with a political party demonising others and saying it’s reasonable.
  • August 2017

The independence movement needs to be speaking to the people of Scotland about what independence can achieve, not about how to achieve independence.
  • July 2017

It’s not unlikely that Britain will be facing yet another general election in the not too distant future. It’s not beyond the bounds of possibility that we’ll be looking at a Tory party led by Boris Johnson.
